Year 6 Residential Visit. Cromer 2009
Grove Park School is a large primary school in Sittingbourne, Kent. We currently have fifteen classes and approximately 450 children on roll. In September 2008 our standard admission number changed from 90 to 60 due to the opening of a Children Centre developed as part of our building; it is anticipated that the number of classes will gradually reduce over the next few years to a two form entry primary school.
Our buildings are arranged in three main areas; Ash House, which contains classrooms for Year 1 and Year 3, the library, the administrative centre of the school, staff room, two halls, kitchen, and ICT technical area. In Beech House you will find the Year 4 classrooms, resource areas, a central shared area for group work and the Key Stage 2 ICT suite with interactive white board and the latest Information Technology. Cedar House is a two storey purpose built building. This area houses the upper juniors on the top floor and Foundation and Year 2 downstairs; we also have a new purpose built Key Stage 1 ICT suite. Each classroom is fully equipped with an interactive whiteboard and computers.
We have an excellent school site with two large green playing field areas and two playgrounds for use by the infant and junior departments.

Much time and effort has been spent in ensuring our curriculum reflects all the current initiatives including ‘Excellence and Enjoyment’ and meets the needs of all the children we teach, we are currently revising our curriculum making it more relevant to our children’s needs. We are committed to ensuring that everyone working in the school has the necessary resources to carry out their work effectively. Our staff are divided into various ECM (Every Child Matters) Teams with a lead TLR teacher who acts as ECM Manager for one area, including subjects; these are mixed between key stages. We also have a leadership team made up of the Key Stage Managers, who are responsible for each Key Stage and Foundation, the SENCo (Special Needs Co-ordinator), Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher.
We believe firmly in the strength of team work in everything we do in school. There are frequent opportunities for teams to meet to ensure that the children receive the best possible education. We are committed to the 10% PPA time needed by all teachers and we have an excellent body of Teaching Assistance who regularly supervise classes and teach small groups for intervention work.
Parents of children in our school are keen to become involved in their children’s learning and the school both welcomes and capitalizes upon this willingness. Firm in the belief that the partnership between home and school is crucial to good progress being made we take every opportunity to work with parents.
We are happy to welcome visitors to our school and would be delighted to show you round.
